Photography of lavender fields

Lavandin & broom

Every year, I'm impatient to return to my creative sanctuary spots ... I have various … my latest travel three days ago, led me to a magic spot in the enchanting French countryside of Provence. I follow a my calendar based on my previous experiences, allowing me to time my visits nicely with the potential for finding extraordinary lighting conditions. My photographic adventures are a delicate dance, quite unlike the controlled environment of a studio, where every detail can be meticulously planned.

This year, however, the weather has been uncharacteristically wet, with prolonged periods of rain. As a result, the blooming cycles of the lavender and broom have been delayed. The lavender is just beginning to unfurl its vibrant hues, while the broom is already in its full, glorious splendor. Yet, when I arrived at my special spot, the setup was nothing short of spectacular. I found myself imeadiatly imersed in a sense of wonder and inspiration as I listened to the gentle huming sounds of the bees.

Before arriving at the spot, I had already envisioned the pictures I wanted to make, as I usually do, with ideas of the different angles in order to make some compelling photos … the picture shown on this page of my blog is one of a series I did with different variants and innovations … each year the circumstances and moods are different … For it is precisely these unexpected twists and turns that ignite my passion, fueling the creation of my photographic work. Each visit at this place brings a new experience, a fresh opportunity of futile moments to connect with the essence and soul of this spot and to translate its beauty into tangible, evocative images. It is this sense of living the discovery and Beauty, this dance with the unexpected, that keeps me coming back, year after year to this iconic field. This year a passage leading to my spot was impassable due to very tense bushwood, I found an alternative and got there anyway, but it was quite difficult. Discovering Beauty and making photos of it to behold, is one of my main motivations for doing my job, as I want to express it, and making it's transformative force resonating trough my images ...
